Vintage Goodwill in Vintage Williamsburg: And why my Dad will always be Cooler than Me
My dad is the coolest. I always knew I had a great dad but I don't think I knew when I was a kid how much he really has it going on. He's always been into history and taught history and written about history and talked A LOT about history. And I think that's part of the reason that I love historical things and vintage everything so much. So thanks D!
This past weekend, he invited me to come hang with him in Colonial Williamsburg for the weekend and I jumped at the chance. I was so glad I had the weekend off and also it was Father's Day so it was perfect! He's currently staying near Monticello in VA doing his fellowship at The International Center for Jefferson Studies researching slave children in the Antebellum South. Ummmmm hi cool intellectual academic Dad. I see you.
We did all the fun history things. Walked the battlefields at Jamestown AND Yorktown and saw all the sights of Williamsburg as well. We stayed in a historic inn, ate dinner in a colonial tavern, went on a spooky ghost tour... We touristed HARD. So fun.
I'm so lucky to have a Dad that's still so active and doing all the things like I do. We really had the best time and I flew back to Nashville so thankful for family. It can get lonely down here in Nashville so far from all my fam so it was a heartwarming weekend to say the least.
Speaking of cool dads, I recently stumbled onto this article on Vintage Parents called 10+ Times Kids Realized Their Parents Were Cooler Than Them and it is SO interesting! I definitely think my Dad's pic needs to be added to this list. But hey, I'm biased. ☺️
For a fun dinner out on the town in Williamburg I wore this fun vintage dress that I got at Goodwill for $3. Yup. WINNER! Paired it with my straw bag and my fav mules and was ready for a night out on the (historic) town.
It was a great trip but I'm happy to be back in town and back to work! Have you guys ever been to VA? I was seriously blown away by how beautiful it is!
All my 💖,
Ruthie
