I got to walk the red (ok grey???!) carpet this year at the CMT Awards and it was such a wonderful night!

Generally speaking, I don’t use a stylist anymore for shoots or events. I‘ve realized through the years that my taste and style is super specific and I've actually gotten in some sticky situations when relying on others. Plus, this girl likes a steal so I can usually get more for my money if I shop my own looks!

Not gonna lie though, I was so busy leading up to the awards that I left this one down to the wire. I didn’t even start shopping till Monday morning and the awards were Wednesday night.

This is going to sound crazy but I had to stop by the mall anyway and at some point in my life someone had told me that their secret weapon for cocktail dresses was... wait for it.... Dillard’s. Record scratch right? Nope.

I walked in, said a little prayer to the Universe that I would efficiently find the absolute perfect dress right away and headed off to hunt. The dress I ended up wearing was one of the first I tried on, was in my color pallet, (AND lace!!!!) was fun, flirty and at a cool hundie dollars did NOT break the bank! I was sold. Done and done.

On my way home I stopped at my fav shoe place in Cool Springs Marti and Liz. It’s a high end consignment shoe store and they did not disappoint. I got those sparkling beauties for only $26!! WHAT IS LIFE??!

My silver clutch was vintage and I knew it would be perfect. I threw some jewelry together that I already had, (the necklace was my Grandma Collins’!) and called it a (very quick shopping) day!

I got literally so many compliments on my dress and shoes, didn’t even spend $130 on the whole look and I walked in pretty dang confident that no one else would be showing up in the same get up. Wham bam thank you Dillard’s!

What do you think of this look? Where are some of your fav go tos for dressy looks??

All my 💖,
