When World Market offered me the opportunity to transform my small space into a multi-purpose room using their eclectic furniture and finds, I couldn’t wait to get started! I have a small space that I use as an office for blogging, songwriting and a variety of other projects, but I need the room to do double duty as a comfy guest room for when my friends and family come to stay. Fortunately, World Market made it easy to find everything I needed to create a small space that functions the way I need it to, while also showing off my own personal style.

I am so thrilled with the result, and I invite you to see how I combined all of my picks into a room that’s as fetching as it is functional.

Honey Rattan Daybed

I chose the Honey Rattan Daybed for a sofa/bed combo because a) it’s stunning and b) it’s sturdy and super functional. It’s a really comfy place to write songs, read a book and snuggle with my pups. But it’s also a good sized bed for anytime I have guests pop over to spend the night.

When I first saw the daybed I thought it looked like a piece that would be in a boutique hotel out in Joshua Tree, a California desert haven that’s filled with Instagram-worthy views and a very relaxed vibe. Like Joshua Tree, this Daybed is boho, slightly shabby chic and just super cool. I styled it with an array of World Market Throw Pillows in a similar color theme and varied textures to give it a plush, put-together feel.

Campaign Desk

I picked this piece because of its clean lines, and it turns out that classic Campaign Desks just like this one have been found in home offices for hundreds of years. It’s the picture-perfect small space solution, with ample workspace, slightly narrower profile and slim-but-sturdy legs. Choosing a bulkier piece with more storage underneath would’ve overwhelmed the room, but this desk keeps everything feeling light, airy and not too crowded. That being said, it is a good-sized workspace so there’s lot of room to get things done. I also like how this very classic design acts as a bridge between my Mid-Century Dresser and my boho Daybed. Like the room, this piece functions on many levels.

Cognac Bi Cast Leather Molded Chair

This desk chair is gorgeous–the kind of treasure you discover at an out-of-the-way antique shop for a fraction of what it’s worth. The rich-looking distressed brown leather brings yet another interesting texture into the room, and the gold-tone metal legs and feet give it just enough glam to pair perfectly with the Arched Gold Mirror that’s next to the desk. It’s got a sexy silhouette that not only looks great, but is super-comfy for hours of sitting, and its small enough tuck away when I’m on the go.

Poufs

Is it possible to have too many Poufs? Never! I wanted to enhance the soothing neutral color palette of the room with Poufs that add a bit of extra texture and pattern. Not only do Poufs create multi-level visual interest in a room, but they also work as extra seating so when I have friends over to hang or co-writers over to write songs there’s plenty of cushy seating. My two pampered pups also love to lounge on them. Plus, it’s impossible to be in a bad mood when you’re perched on a Pouf!

Arched Gold Mirror

A floor mirror like this one makes a small space feel bigger. This Arched Gold Mirror is nice and tall, which means that it reflects a lot of light, and I love the way the gold finish and architectural shape give the room a little glam and sparkle. Plus, this is the perfect #ootd selfie mirror, which is a must have for a fashion blogger!

I couldn't be more in love with the way this entire space turned out. It's my new favorite spot in my sweet cottage for my morning routine, hanging with friends, blogging and writing music.

Do you love this room as much as I do?

💖always,

Ruthie
