Let's Get Happy (Hour) at Hemingway's 🍷
I realized a few weeks back that just about every time I do a photo shoot for Instagram I end up at a lovely and delicious happy hour. ALSO, happy hour is my absolute favorite girl time hang which is why I've become a liiiiiitle bit of a.... well a happy hour connoisseur! So I figured I might as well share some of the best HH hang spots in Nashville with you guys!
Starting with one of my favs, Hemingway's Bar and Hideaway. Located in the very cool and up and coming Houston Station, Hemingway's is chic to the max. The rustic but elegant vibe, the chandeliers, the gorgeous wood paneling, the decor is just 👌.
And the happy hour menu boys and girls, does NOT disappoint. $6 red or white wine (and it's good stuff too, not that I ever turned my nose up at a bota) and $10 specialty cocktails. (Normally $13.) I ordered a lovely dry Rose that was darker in color that I'm used to but I knew would look good with my color palette on the gram. I'm all about the aesthetic guys. 🤷🏼♀️
The Rose was delish but I also wanted to try one of the specialty cocktails. I ordered the "I think I know (but it's all wrong)". It was V summery and refreshing. I asked for a recommendation of something not too sweet and this was spot on. Light and a perfectly citrusy, this drink is vodka based. (They use Wheatly vodka but if y'all know your gal you know vodka is my least favorite of the libations so I switched out for gin. HIGHLY recommend.) The rest of the ingredients are strawberry syrup, plumb bitters, lemon juice and it is topped off with (wait for it....) Prosecco. YUM. Now that I think of it, since I switched out the vodka for gin, this is pretty much a fancy pancy French 75. Which is probably why I freaking loved it. Mickey got a vodka soda cause well... because frankly she's a freaking boss at being healthy and staying super motivated. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a bougie booze fest. Needless to say, drinks were spot on guys.
And the food! Hemmingway's has a killer bar menu, you gotta check it out. Basically my very favorite thing about Happy Hour is that you get to have beautiful culinary experiences at fancy places that might not always fit into your budget. It's a great way to try a new spot without breaking the bank. I tried 3 of the bar menu items and honestly, they were all great. The brussels spouts were my favorite. I'm a huge fan of the whole fried brussels trend and these were perfect. We also had the Bao Buns which made all my carb dreams come true. I told myself that I was only gonna have a bite. HA! As my ex father in law used to say, "if it's under the nose, in it goes." That's actually kind of a weird expression now that I think about it... Huh. We also tried the taco of the day which was Hot Chicken. It was great because, well I mean obviously because HOT CHICKEN AND TACOS.
I couldn't recommend this spot more. It's one of my go to happy hours and you all MUST give it a go. What's y'alls fav happy hour spots? Any traditions?
💖 always,
Ruthie
